Well, it is officially midnight, May 1st, 2008 - May Day. I guess it's as good a time as any to start a new venture.
By way of introduction, I'm 22, and I live in Missouri. I am a week and two days away from graduating college with a biology degree, and senioritis is hitting me hard. When I was a senior in high school, senioritis lurked, and slowly crept up on me in tiny little steps. This year, it swooped in wearing a Dolly Parton wig and sparkly green eyeshadow, and has been cheerfully smacking me over the head with its purse ever since.
I'm headed to Ohio for medical school in the fall, which will begin exactly a week and two days after I marry my fiancé. I said all my life that I would never have an August wedding in Missouri - if I listen closely, I can hear God laughing.
Mini-trivia: Did you know that the phrase "mayday" actually comes from the French "m'aidez"? It means "Help me." Not the most auspicious beginning, now that I think of it. More laughter from above...
